Information
This project was designed as part of the Cyprus Architects Association workshop 'Horikes Sindishes' in Lofou, Cyprus. The project features a timber seating area which helps people socialise. The seating area is designed taking into consideration the body posture during the various phases when people meet and talk - from the initial rigid posture between strangers to the more comfortable and relaxed posture between acquaintances. The seating area is contextual in its design as it takes into consideration the local patterns and design language of the village of Lofou. Constructed using timber with seamless joints, the seating area gives a warm and welcoming texture whilst blending perfectly with its surroundings. It is strategically positioned under a tree as a form of natural shading, where people often seek comfort due to the high temperatures of Cyprus.
